What Is The Stage?

Welcome to the heart of the arts community, The Stage at Payne Park. Drawing inspiration from Sarasota’s illustrious history in the arts, “The Stage” is a tribute to the legacy of our city’s artistic pioneers. For decades, Sarasota has been a beacon for performers, artists, and enthusiasts, becoming a celebrated cultural hub.

An initiative of The Sarasota Players, The Stage will be its future home and a hub for other small arts organizations who don’t have venues of their own.

Based on a generous agreement with the City of Sarasota, The Stage will transform the existing Payne Park Auditorium, located within the grounds of Payne Park in downtown Sarasota, into an innovative performing arts center. The Auditorium’s midcentury design will undergo a transformative renovation and convert what was once a traditional “community hall” into a repurposed space that will serve the evolving needs of Sarasota’s artistic community.

The Stage will also be an elegant, modern, versatile event space for use by the community for life events, corporate conferences, and fundraising galas. It will become THE place to be seen in Sarasota.

To realize such an undertaking, The Sarasota Players has begun “A Place to Call Home” fundraising campaign. The organization is kickstarting the project with $4 million towards the $17 million goal.
